The District Music Project was born out of a Christmas chorus started in 2016 in D.C.’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood. It was wildly popular! So popular in fact, that when it returned in 2017, it had practically doubled in size. It was also the inspiration to offer these community music-making opportunities year-round.
The chorus is now offered year-round. Think of it as the nondenominational magic of Christmas 365 days a year.
While the DMP continues to grow and offer an increasingly diverse array of music education, our roots are forever in a little neighborhood chorus that was free and open to all — and it remains that way today.
No prior experience is required. Just show up ready to learn and have a good time! Materials will be provided.
